October Country

The Wife, The Kid, The Spot, and I have arrived in Portland, Oregon for the week.  I blogged on this last year along with my “pining” for a life here among the pines.  It’s still a nice place but I haven’t been here long enough to enter the accutely wistful stage.

Portland is known variously as The City of Roses, The City of Bridges, Puddletown, Stumptown, PDX, Pizzortland (swear to god), Munich on the Willamette, River City, and P-Town.  There are reasons for all these nicknames, but I think of it as the home of Powell’s City of Books and the place where I first informally married the woman who would eventually be The Wife at the now sadly defunct 24-Hour Church of Elvis.

It was beautiful, just like the rest of this rainy, green place.

Here’s me and The Kid in front of Mount Shasta.
