Supposedly, the other side of the island is on Tsunami Watch after an undersea quake in the Kuril Trench between Russia and Japan. We’re actually going to that side today so if there are no further posts for a while that’s why.
I went snorkling yesterday for the first time in my life and, Jeez-Louise, it was like being dropped into the coolest aquarium you’ve ever seen. Inadvertantly inhaled some salt water when I turned around and found myself close enough to a giant sea turtle for it to be considered bigamy.
Anyway, off to whatever remains of Hilo. Will post pictures when I’m back in LA and Oceanic Time Warner is naught but an annoying memory.
Dude, only you guys could manage a Big Vacation just in time for a tsunami, with a sick kid thrown in for good measure. Hope you’re having a good time anyway. And, y’know, that you don’t get hit by a giant wall of water.
Also, I’m officially jealous of this trip. Well, not the tsunami part, but the rest.
