Happy Nowruz (sp?)!!!

Turns out today is quite a day.

It is the Persian/Iranian/Zoroastrian New Year marking the beginning of the year 1386, to be celebrated by house and yard cleaning, new clothes shopping, and changing out your old dirty money for new. You also get to give gifts and eat seasonal goodies. Being a bit on the OCD side I think I would be an awesome Persian since I am all abut the cleaning.  So Happy Norooz or however you choose to spell it!

It is also the first day of Spring, the Vernal Equinox in which the lengths of day and night are equal, at least in theory. In practice there is more light than dark, but let’s cut the ancient astronomers a little slack. They were working with stone monoliths and a system of writing that had about five letters and an ankh.

Wait, was it Spring Forward or Fall Back?
Anyway, today kicks off holiday seasons in just about every culture on Earth, most of them involving death, resurrection, and (my favorite) fertility. It is a season for boinking, kids, so let’s be observant!

Today is also the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, Gary Oldman, Rosie O’Donnell, and my good buddy Ken Laws.

A fine day indeed!
