“Hey, they’re all winners, right?”
Really, they are a mighty handsome bunch this year.
With one exception I nailed all the picks for the Motion Picture categories. Ruby Dee won for “Female Actor in a Supporting Role” instead Tilda Swinton, but that’s okay. Ms. Dee delivered the goods in “American Gangster” and honestly should be on my imaginary SAG Jedi Council.
I ate it bad on my TV picks but that’s to be expected because I hadn’t seen most of them. Also, one is historically ill-advised to bet against “The Sopranos.” My only correct TV picks were Kevin Kline for Best Actor and “The Office” for Best Comedy Ensemble.
Kudos to Julie Christie for giving a thumbs up to the WGA and unions in general and to Daniel Day-Lewis for his kind words about the late Heath Ledger. There are still some class acts out there and they showed up tonight.
