I love starting my day with a news item that makes me want to take fellow human beings out back and beat them to death with a cricket bat.
According to NewScientist 16% of U.S. science teachers are creationists.
Now perhaps nourishing the soil with the negligible brain matter of such people is a bit harsh, but I still think the crime against reason of teaching “Sky-Fairy Science” as equivalent to evolution and modern cosmology ought to get the perpetrator fired at the very least. It could also be the grounds for a lawsuit against the schools involved for not fulfilling their contract to provide a proper education to kids who have little power to resist such intellectual molestation.
Imagine an English teacher telling his/her kids “Why yes, children, ‘werfyhwhbdh’ is equally as beautiful and meritorious as ‘Shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day?’”
Yeah, cricket bat. I could make the case.
