This is great news. A British couple got aggressive and screened all their embryos for a gene that causes a hereditary form of breast cancer. Two embryos were free of the gene and were implanted. Now the woman is 14 weeks preggers and the killer gene has been eliminated from their lineage forever.
Fears of “Gattica” and “Brave New World” aside I am all for making stuff like this affordable for all. It may cost up front but the savings of a society free of certain conditions (cancer, diabetes, Alzheimers) would be huge.
Now if we could just isolate the gene for gullibility we could take out religion, trickle-down economics and “Hannah Montana.”
