Today’s Ballot

I admit upfront that I’m half-assing this because I’m moving back to DC in less than a month and I’m mad that California can’t stop holding elections every time someone asks the Legislature if they’d like fries with that.

Here’s what I’ve got:

I’m voting YES on all six State Measures because they’re about raising and redistributing revenue to keep things from collapsing until after I leave the state.  Some of them are smarter than others but they all seem necessary.  Also the principal at my kid’s school said to vote YES on all of ‘em because it would get money to the schools.  This lady has her PhD and she runs the top-rated elementary school in the LAUSD.  Taking all that into account I feel better about doing this part of the stupid, dysfunctional Legislature’s job for them.

YES on 1-A through 1-F.

CITY ATTORNEY.  I’m voting for CARMEN “NUCH” TRUTANICH over Jack Weiss because Weiss is an entrenched careerist who’s worked the system too long and too much for the benefit of billboard advertisers and developers who make this potentially beautiful city look like a gridlocked webpage with no ad-blocking software.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEES.

SEAT NO. 2.  I’m voting for incumbent member ANGELA REDDICK over challenger Tina Park because Reddick’s got a ton of endorsements and Park has none.   I have to admit Park is hot, but she’s also touting her experience as a former New York Stock Exchange auditor.  Bad timing.  Bad political instincts.  Voting REDDICK.

SEAT NO. 6  Both candidates apeal to me but I’m going with new guy ROBERT NAKAHIRO over incumbent Nancy Pearlman.  NAKHIRO is an attorney who’s racked up the endorsement of the California Democratic Party (say what you will about them).  Ms Pearlman is an environmentalist who’s done a lot of jock-y stuff.  That’s great but NAKAHIRO seems to be bringing some more heavyweight skills to the table.  I’ll give him his shot.

That’s it.  I suck because I’ve waited so long to do this and I know I’m half-assing it.  I’m sorry.

If you want more information use The Google.  All these people have websites and the polling places all provide the truly excellent California OFFICIAL VOTER INFORMATION GUIDES if you have time to read them before casting your vote.  It’s one thing I have to say is superb about all this.   The Golden State is great with the traditional old media newsprint.

Hello to the three other people voting in this thing!
