I live in Virginia’s 8th Congressional district. My Congressman is Jim Moran, Democrat. He’s held the office since 1991. My Governor is Tim Kaine, Democrat. He’s held the office since 2006. My Senators are Jim Webb (D) serving since 2007 and Mark Warner (D) serving since January 2009.
I could get to like living in a red state turning blue.
I finished building (reassembling) a bunch of IKEA crap today, mostly in the room that is now my office. I have a cave to retreat to where I can read and write with a door between me and the rest of the house. I have a new bed which I really like. We’re starting to have visitors over and that makes it feel more homey. My son starts a day camp in about eight hours where he can run around with other kids his age after weeks without that necessity. His loneliness has been the hardest part of all of this.
I still miss my friends in LA and for some reason I feel it more when I send an e-mail and realize they’re reading it three hours earlier than I’m sending it. It’s still Sunday there and they’re doing shows and hanging out while I should be in my new bed.
We live in an Age of Teleportation but it only works for ideas, not bodies. The computer screen is visiting room glass between us and our friends far away. We can talk and even see each other but No Personal Contact Is Allowed. No Food or Drink May Be Exchanged. No Sex Please, We’re British.
I live in Virginia and it’s really pretty damn decent once you start getting your head around it.
But I still look forward to visiting hours.
Oh, but what’s up with that state flag though?
The state motto is what Booth shouted after he killed Lincoln?
At least we get to be the only state flag that includes nudity.
